Transitions: Triumph, Trauma, or Transformation?

Behold, I am doing a new thing;

now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?[1]

Every four years, the political pundits roar with “hot takes” and (largely irrelevant) speculation; entire teams – “transition teams” – begin the arduous task of making the sausage necessary to change the ambient political menu.  To the winners, “transition” signals triumph.  To the losers, “transition” spawns trauma.  These reactions often occur in ministries as well as in politics.  Few recognize that transitions, if done well, frame the aperture for transformation.  In other words, transitions need not signal triumph, nor trauma.  And this couldn’t be more true than for TruthxChange.  Let’s get to the gist.

2024 has seen the Lord superintend what we call TxC 2.0 – an institutional transition as our dear faithful Founder, Dr. Peter Jones retires from his role of being Executive Director of the ministry.  The Board, upon which Peter will continue to serve, wisely installed a transition plan to avoid disruption or a jarring discontinuity – far too many ministries have stumbled at this point in their institutional lives. The ministry transitioned in 2024, but did not stagnate. What did the Lord do in 2024 and what has He envisioned us to do in 2025?

The Fruit of 2024

A Big Think Tank Welcomes TxC

Early in January Mary Weller and I attended an invitation-only “off the record” gathering in Washington DC sponsored by a Big Dog think tank.  This gathering focused on the many facets of gender ideology threatening church and society.  While the meeting room burgeoned with legal, policy, and psychology expertise, TxC comprised the only attending group that provided the theological grounding for fully addressing — with both realism and redemption — gender ideology’s pagan challenge.  TxC contributes in a way no other ministry does.

Shining a Light Regularly: Creating Copious Content

Reading the Truth: The Director’s Dicta, et al

Also early in January, TxC committed to expanding content from both internal and external sources.  Internally, we committed to weekly creating and posting The Director’s Dicta, which engages in cutting edge and current worldview apologetics, including addressing the idols infecting and affecting culture and church alike.  The tone used intentionally positions TxC as being Serious – Scriptural – and Scholarly.

Hearing the Truth: The Director’s Bag Podcast

We also relaunched our weekly podcast, now called The Director’s Bag.  There, in short conversational bites, Johsua Gielow and I address readers’ and inquirers’ questions and comments – listeners from over 100 countries download and engage with this product. These efforts help us execute our calling to Inform the Public as well as Equip the Church.

Seeing and Touching the Truth:  The Every Square Inch Gathering, etc

Externally, we activated several TxC Scholars and invited them to engage with our constituents by writing contributions, joining us as podcast guests, as well as serving as faculty for our annual Every Square Inch gathering.  This “destination” event partnered in 2024 with Providence Christian College on its beautiful campus in Southern California.  It was a smashing success and created quite the buzz.[2]  And, mark your calendars:  we will convene there again in 2025:   September 26 and 27.  We will be probing a crucial issue currently confusing both church and culture:  The Manhood Mandate:  Distinguishing Faithful and Faux Masculinity

TxC enjoyed a significant and fertile presence at the PCA’s General Assembly – many friendships were reinforced, renewed, and inaugurated.  From this, one of our newest projects – TxC Intensives – began to germinate. What are the TxC Intensives?Whereas our annual Every Square Inch gathering invites others to “come to us”, the TxC Intensives permit us to “come to you” – meaning that we custom-craft 1.5 day on-site interactive events specifically scratching the itches currently affecting churches and ministries:  gender ideology, Gnostic mysticism, rank paganism, political salvationism, the idolatry of Self, Critical Theory, et al. Intensives provide cultural diagnosis using the theological foundational developed by Peter Jones and then apply that analysis to equipping the church to walk faithfully and evangelistically forward, neither ignoring nor insulting those who oppose the Gospel by advancing pagan lies.

Partnering for the Truth: The Grace and Leverage of Collaboration

2024 also saw growing partnerships with like-minded organizations financially sponsoring me to attend and/or speak in a variety of contexts flying the TxC flag:  The Center for Cultural Leadership,[3] Trinity Law School,[4] Ezra USA, Regent Law School,[5] Arizona Christian University,[6] The Hale Institute affiliated with New St. Andrews College,[7] and The Federalist Society,[8] et al.

These platforms for cross-pollination also signal the confidence these fine organizations have in TxC’s future, expanding our reach without using TxC fiscal resources to do so.  We are humbled and energized.   This also means that every gift TxC receives is efficiently applied to the mission and leveraged as we collaborate with others.  This brings us to the bold efforts we will be pursuing next year.

The Faith for 2025

Building Upon Truth’s Foundation

2024’s transition was not a culmination, but rather a beginning.  Accordingly, we see 2025 building upon these 2024 predicates.  As we expand our reach, we need to build the infrastructure and capacity – staffing and funding – to accelerate all that the Lord allowed us to begin in 2024.  In addition to continuing to produce content – weekly Dicta and Podcasting – we will engage our TxC Scholars on deeper levels:  inviting them to regularly join an additional bi-monthly podcast program and produce timely specialized written content.

Coming to YOU

And, 2025 will see with God’s grace the TxC Intensives, outlined above, become reality.  Currently, there are requests for 10+ events, many of which involve sponsoring churches – again collaborating in Kingdom work for Christ’s glory.  Please look for announcements in coming weeks specifying times and locations – and plan to join us.  And, if you or your group would like to have TxC visit YOU, please let us know.

Equipping YOU in MORE Ways

We would also like to produce study guides for several of Peter Jones’ books. And, we are looking to create – perhaps in partnership with one of our strong allies – an imprint – TxC Press– to produce and publish fresh written works:  monographs and books.  We need financial resources for “making this so.”

Protecting YOUR Future

Finally, we have designed an in-residence, application-only immersive fellowship experience for the next generation’s leaders.  This vetted interdisciplinary gathering will inoculate, envision, and equip university students and young professionals to engage paganism within their own disciplines and contexts.

Think of it:  TxC-trained and energized young people graciously, redemptively, yet shamelessly confronting and rebutting the lies of the day wherever they oppose the Gospel:  business, medicine, education, entertainment, journalism, law, politics, ministry – engaging every square inch of reality by “taking every thought captive to obey Christ.”[9]  To make this project a reality, we need $150,000 over and above our regular budgeted items – we never want to fund kingdom work with debt, so we are seeking to raise these funds in advance.  The sooner we do, the sooner real and lasting transformation will occur.

Please consider providing TxC your most generous gift as 2024 closes, and prayerfully consider regularly supporting us in 2025.  EVERY gift matters and your prayers matter even more; they provide the means for TxC to Inform the Public – Equip the Church – and Protect the Future – “For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.”[10]
