REVIEW OF Rachel Lu, “The LGBT Movement Will Self-Destruct,” The Federalist (May 31, 2016) http://thefederalist.com/2016/05/31/the-lgbt-movement-will-self-destruct/ Rachel Lu begins her controversial thesis by describing the innocuous rise and fall of “inventive spelling,” which proposed liberating options like “girl,” “gurl” and “grrrrl.” This is hardly reason to think that the supremacy of pan-sexuality will disappear as speedily. […]
Today on the podcast, Dr. Jones and the crew discuss the upcoming conference in October 7-9, 2016, “The Two Loves: A Biblical Responses to ‘Gay Christianity’,” featuring in particular two leading experts in the field, Dr. Michael Brown and Dr. Rosaria Butterfield. We hope to show that the stakes for the church go far beyond […]
Facing a mounting cultural pressure to conform, Christians often receive accusations of bigotry and hate. The Bible offers us a positive, life-giving message of salvation, expressed, in particular, in a life of God-honoring heterosexuality.
Since the 1960s, the Southern Poverty Law Center has served as a self-appointed watchdog to track hate groups such as the Ku Klux Klan and the Aryan Nation. Though its efforts have doubtless been helpful in certain areas, the SPLC’s recent (November 24, 2010) list now includes as “hate groups” thirteen upstanding Christian organizations, accused of propagating “known falsehoods” about gays and lesbians. Is this political posturing, personal animus from a lunatic fringe, or an escalation of the conflict between two irreconcilable worldviews, both of which claim the right to be heard in the public square?
For years I have been seeking terms to identify the enemy of the Christian faith in the modern world, since you cannot engage an enemy until you have clearly identified it. An enemy that describes itself or “frames the issues” will always wear camouflage, and will catch you in a catastrophic ambush. Examples abound. Homosexual […]
(Audio Lecture) Identity from Within or from the Mind of Christby Joshua Gielow | April 17, 2020
Dr. Butterfield gives a brilliant analysis of how Christ delivers people caught in the practice of homosexuality, by putting to death the works of the flesh, including the attempt falsely to justify “celibate” homosexual desire as pleasing to God, and by embracing God’s creational truth for his glory and our good. The culture’s definition of […]
Shifting Sandsby Dr. Peter Jones | April 10, 2020
“Lord, what are you saying during this crisis?” That is the question on every Christian’s mind. The mighty, miniscule virus is slaying thousands every day. On March 29th, Dr. Anthony Fauci estimated that the US might see between 100,000 and 200,000 deaths before the crisis fades. Christians must yet remain calm, asking God to give us […]
An Elephant Called Fearby Rebecca Jones | April 8, 2020
But if we are to chase the elephant of fear out of our churches, we must allow God to face it down through the power of his love. “God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but of love, of power, and of a strong mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). If we are to face down the elephant of fear, we must do it by absorbing God’s forgiveness. “Perfect love casts out fear, because fear has to do with punishment” (1 John 4:18).
Spirituality: Mindfulness or the Mind of Christby Joshua Gielow | March 23, 2020
Mrs. Pamela Frost gives a most useful and dense comparative contrast between pagan “Mindfulness” and “the Mind of Christ,” showing clearly how the Mind of Christ distinguishes between the Creator and creation, while Mindfulness blurs distinctions and leads people into the pagan lie of “nonduality.” Eastern spiritualties work against having our minds set on Christ. The […]
