TXC Volunteer Needs
truthXchange is SO grateful for the full support we receive from New Life Presbyterian Church, not only in the financial support we receive, for which we are humbly grateful, but also for the many volunteers who pitch in with such joy and gusto to make our Think Tank such a unique, hospitable and fascinating event.
However, we know that there may be a few of you who are looking for ways to use your particular gifts in the service of Christ. We are eager to have volunteers join us in the mission God has given us, to alert Christians about the tactics of the enemy in our culture and to strengthen them to resist those tactics and to revel in the God who really exists outside creation and who has spoken to us and met our needs through his son, Jesus.
If you feel led to help us in any of the following positions, please let us know. If you have gifts you think might help us, but which are not listed below, contact us and we can discuss possibilities. The Lord so often surprises us by sending us blessings we didn’t even know existed.
Here are a few positions that would be of wonderful benefit to us, to ease the burden on our very small staff: Peter Jones (Director), Joshua Gielow (assistant to the Director); Mary Eady (Project Manager) and Rebecca Jones (full-time volunteer and jack of all trades).
To volunteer, please email Rebecca Jones.
Mailing List Coordinator
Job Description: Update database and mailing lists weekly.
Skills needed: Familiarity with database software (medium level – the program is reasonably easy to use). A combination of logic and love of people, a good memory for names, comfortable with making a phone call or two to verify addresses (while developing current relationships with truthXchange donors and friends).
Time expectation: 2 hours/week – ongoing
Location: Some work from home possible, but work in the office is preferable.
Job Description: Write a thank you note to small donors and help us develop a relationship with them. Record any helpful information in our database. Alert tXc employees of prayer needs or opportunities for tXc to be of help.
Skills Needed: A great love for people and for writing encouraging cards. Some of these are sent to folks who have no emails (generally the older generation). They will write back! This offers a possibility of getting to know some wonderful saints of God.
Time Expectation: ~10 hours/month
Location: Work from home possible, but some work at the office is preferable.
Job Description: Receive a group of donors or prospective donors from the area for a meal (you can cook, or we will bring food, whichever you like). We need a home that could receive about 40 people. We have several receptions each year for board members, donors, out-of-town speakers, our volunteers, etc. Hosting a reception in a private home is much friendlier, and saves tXc money in renting a restaurant or public venue.
Skills Needed: An easy-going and hospitable nature, able to cope with a crowd, a love of serving meals (and cooking, if you enjoy that!)
Time Expectation: Depends on how long it takes to set up your home to receive folks and to get it cleaned up afterwards (our tXc friends are good at washing up pots and pans, etc.!)
Location: Chez vous! (Your house) 🙂
Job Description: We often have mailings done by a company, but our new software allows us to print postage at the nonprofit rate, so if we had a “stuffing party” at the office, we could save a lot of money on our mailings.
Skills Needed: Hands
Time Expectation: 2 hours each time (we are hoping to get out nearly one mailing each month).
Location: TXC Offices (333. S. Juniper St., Suite 214, Escondido, CA 92025)
Bookkeeper or CPA
Job Description: Help with quarterly tax filing, payroll, bookkeeping oversight, donation entries, expense reports, etc.
Skills Needed: Bookkeeping experience or CPA qualification, familiarity with tax and payroll procedures
Time Expectation: ~3 hours/week
Location: Possibly could work offsite with an occasional visit to the TXC offices.
Job Description: Help build lists of pastors, Christian colleges and ministries who may be eager for input from TXC or who would like to sponsor seminars.
Skills Needed: A creative mind and the ability to stick with internet research over a reasonably extended time period. Thoughtful, careful use of data, analytical skills to help tXc target the right audiences.
Time Expectation: ~3 hours/week, or whatever you can offer.
Location: Could work offsite with an occasional visit to the TXC offices.
Job Description: Compare ebook text to texts of Peter Jones’ books in order to have accurate copies of the books.
Skills Needed: Sharp eye, good writing skills, familiarity with the tXc message (must have read several of Dr. Jones’ books, or be willing to read them),
Extension of the Job, if you’re interested: familiarity with .mobi format. Willingness to walk the project through with Amazon.
Time Expectation: 10-15 hours per book. (Hard to estimate)
Location: Office, or work from home
You name your skills and see if we can find a slot for you!
We look forward to please email Rebecca Joneshearing from you and working with you!
