We are not surprised to hear that political freedom in the world has declined for a fifth straight year, especially in the Middle East and in North Africa. But loss of freedom in the West does surprise us. Freedom has shrunk partly because of silencing “hate speech.” Is the “climate of hate” warming or cooling here at home? No matter what the world says and no matter what consequences await us, we must speak the name and truth of Jesus for all to hear.
Since the 1960s, the Southern Poverty Law Center has served as a self-appointed watchdog to track hate groups such as the Ku Klux Klan and the Aryan Nation. Though its efforts have doubtless been helpful in certain areas, the SPLC’s recent (November 24, 2010) list now includes as “hate groups” thirteen upstanding Christian organizations, accused of propagating “known falsehoods” about gays and lesbians. Is this political posturing, personal animus from a lunatic fringe, or an escalation of the conflict between two irreconcilable worldviews, both of which claim the right to be heard in the public square?
British Home Office Secretary Jacqui Smith recently placed American talk show host Michael Savage on a UK ban list though he had not even attempted to enter the country. The Savage Nation is sometimes impolite and always right wing, but to deny entry for such reasons speaks loudly of the New Left’s need to silence free […]
On September 30, 1938, Chamberlain [that’s Neville not Wilt] returned from Munich having granted Hitler virtually all his demands including the right to annex the Sudetenland, a large chunk of Czechoslovakia. As he walked on the tarmac he waved the agreement in the air and proclaimed “peace with honour,” and spoke of “peace in our […]
In 1974, when I left the States to teach in “godless” France, the cultural revolution was a Left coast/San Fran’ phenom’, and America was still “Christian.” When I returned in 1991, I was in for culture shock, but still never imagined what lay ahead. One man warned us. In 1978, Pastor Charles Mcllhenny recorded his […]

Black Fathers and White Fathersby Dr. Peter Jones | April 22, 2022
Part of Critical Race Theory is the assumption that racism is inevitably related to white male heterosexuality and the oppressive patriarchy that occurs under the selfish rule of powerful father-figures. Thus, the contemporary version of a “man” in U.S. society is “hyper-masculine, straight, and white…the wealthy white male property owner.” So “…we must begin to […]
Still Time to Care About the Whole Gospelby Dr. Peter Jones | March 2, 2022
In his book Still Time to Care (2021), Greg Johnson, an intelligent Christian thinker, seeks to make a valid case for allowing someone who, like himself, is openly same-sex attracted, gay, and celibate to be an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America. Johnson adopts a profoundly orthodox and well exegetically supported view of biblical sexuality. […]
