One day on the walk home from school my son’s 7-year-old buddy said, “Miss Mary — WHY do people call animals ‘creatures’? I just think that’s so rude. I think it’s mean to animals to call them creatures.” I wasn’t quite sure where this thought had come from. Up until that point the boys had been chatting about antics on the playground and a fort they were building in the bushes behind our condo. But he was intense with his delivery and I had a sense that somehow this topic mattered.
Think Tank 2012 Live-Blog: Two-ism and Sexuality (Dannah Gresh)
Speaker: Dannah Gresh (founder, Grace Prep) Session: Two-ism and Sexuality I am concerned with our view of sexuality in the church. The problem Let’s begin with women. Marilyn Monroe rose to the status of sex symbol at the age of 30, and she could not afford the worship ascribed to her. It destroyed her. In […]
On the Origins of Yoga
In order to understand the spiritual times in which we live, we must have a solid grounding in our understanding of the cosmology of universal One-ism, which ultimately denies the value of the individual and leads to a kind of annihilation beyond the mind, and biblical Two-ism, which affirms the distinction between God and creation and affirms the infinite worth and value of individuals created in the image of God and of their minds, which are gloriously renewed and transformed through the growing knowledge of His Word. Let’s be spiritually alert and discerning so we can graciously and effectively engage the culture with the beauty of biblical Two-ism’s salvation message of Christ’s blood atonement for sinners and let us pray in genuine concern and love for those caught in the web of One-ism.
The Emperor’s New Yoga Pants
In schools on the West and East coasts of the United States, little children are bowing and worshiping, though their training is being called exercise. Black Fathers and White Fathers
by Dr. Peter Jones | April 22, 2022Part of Critical Race Theory is the assumption that racism is inevitably related to white male heterosexuality and the oppressive patriarchy that occurs under the selfish rule of powerful father-figures. Thus, the contemporary version of a “man” in U.S. society is “hyper-masculine, straight, and white…the wealthy white male property owner.” So “…we must begin to […]
Still Time to Care About the Whole Gospel
by Dr. Peter Jones | March 2, 2022In his book Still Time to Care (2021), Greg Johnson, an intelligent Christian thinker, seeks to make a valid case for allowing someone who, like himself, is openly same-sex attracted, gay, and celibate to be an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America. Johnson adopts a profoundly orthodox and well exegetically supported view of biblical sexuality. […]
Post-Christian Ideologies at Christian and Secular Colleges
by David Talcott | February 24, 2022For some time now, truthXchange has been warning the church about the inroads that post-Christian ideologies are making into Christian colleges. The pagan worldview that reasserted itself in America in the late 20th century has now incorporated new ideas about sexuality, race, and other hot-button topics. A recent series of articles in mainstream outlets shows just how bad things have […]
