Jihadi John, the beheader, otherwise known as Mohammad Emwazi, at the age of six was brought to the UK in 1994 by Kuwaiti parents. He attended St Mary Magdalene Church of England primary school, and in 2009 graduated with honors from the University of Westminster. He then worked for an IT company in Kuwait and…
Today’s cultural progressives believe they have cornered “the right [and moral] side of history,” leading to the global unity of all peoples. Ban Ki-moon, the UN General Secretary, says it clearly: “the United Nations is the hope and home of all humankind.” This same vision motivated the original “united” nations at Babel—“nothing that they propose…
All this should not surprise us, and if we can face the inevitable opposition to biblical truth the way the early church did, with courage and joy, we can eventually hope for a great spiritual revival. Certainly, if our culture continues to “evolve,” it will one day implode. May faithful believers be there when that happens.
When B. B. Warfield was asked 'What is Christianity?' he replied, "unembarrassed supernaturalism." In our current confusing situation, we Christians must renew our commitment to a clear, courageous and unembarrassed statement of the Truth...
Uncivil war has been declared on Christians who, in loving humility, have boldly addressed issues of sin in order to announce the cleansing power of the Gospel. As public vitriol heats up, “The Final Solution” for some could well be to treat Christians as insects that must be squashed. Certainly, believers must defend their civic and legal rights and seek the well-being of the public square. But we go forward in the strength of this divine promise, that in suffering for Jesus there is blessing, and beyond the cross there is unimaginable glory. In the meantime, we beg God’s mercy on his church and our culture and seek to love our neighbors and promote their ultimate good.
God’s picture of his love for the church was knit into the male/female love relationship of the first man and woman. Separate and different, they were placed in an ordained and indissoluble marriage. From the start, God placed this physical, emotional and spiritual picture into the world as a constant reflection of his image, demonstrating to us both the differentiation of the persons of the Trinity (distinct persons with differing roles, yet one in nature) and the unbreakable love relationship between Christ and his church.
The Twoist historic biblical faith celebrates the representative ideological importance of heterosexuality. In the beginning, reflecting God’s Trinitarian image of difference in unity, human beings were made male and female (Gen 1:27-8), and that structure mirrored the Twoist “mystery” of Christ’s redeeming love for his bride, the church (Eph 5:32). There is no appeal to “icky,” no incitement to hate in this argument. Biblical cosmology brings light to the discussion and, in God’s grace, prepares hearts for conversion and life-changing behavior. As the Apostle Paul said, “And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” 1 Corinthians 6:11
The vacuous marriage sacrament of the “Grammys religion” and its further trivialization as an entertainment stunt, only underlines the spiritually empty gospel that Tinsel Town and its beautiful people were pushing, unopposed, into the homes of people who pay these artists their inflated salaries. There is no competing message, no other opinion allowed from other artists, no apparent way for so many to hear the truth. This is a formula for cultural collapse.
When Adam and Eve failed by refusing to trust their future to the word of their Maker, the rightful Twoist structure of God and the creation became a cosmic war, between the forces of evil and the promised seed of the woman. Through further insignificant elements--the individual Abraham, the tiny nation of Israel, the 300 under Gideon, and finally though this newly-born baby in a food trough in around 2BC, God was working his plan of redemption, though in seemingly unimpressive ways. Since the project had gone south, through the failure of human beings at a significant moment in history, there was no “joy from the world,” only the funeral dirge of human failure. In all honesty, we need help from the outside, from the divine Other, from the new Adam who paid the price of human sin by bearing its punishment on a small hill outside Jerusalem.
There is a Bible text for TruthXchange! Deep in the Old Testament, in the rarely-mentioned book of Ecclesiastes, you can read: “TWO ARE BETTER THAN ONE” (Eccl. 4:9) I am cheating a bit. Ecclesiastes is talking about two people in a bed keeping each other warm while one person alone freezes all night. However, there…
The early Christians were faced with a similar situation. The first century Roman historian, Tacitus, charged them with the first recorded accusation of hate speech in Church history: “haters of humanity.” They breached the pagan pax romana.
We must now ask, “When is a culture finally 'given over'”? According to Paul, this occurs when the leading cultural institutions “exchange” their public confession of God as the Creator for interfaith divinized nature; when their worship of the immortal God is “exchanged” for the worship of mortal man and animals; and when their public legitimation of “natural” sexuality is “exchanged” for the promotion of “unnatural” sexual expressions (Rom 1:23, 25, 26). At that point, says Paul, “they are given over” (Rom. 1:24, 26, 28).
Christians cannot dig wells in Africa without telling thirsty sinners of the wells of salvation. They cannot speak of blessings without speaking also of the curse of human evil. Children must hear the difference between the Lie and the Truth in order to place their trust in Jesus as their only Savior, and we must obey the Savior’s command: “Let the little ones come to me.”
I am still reeling from the implications of the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Defense of Marriage Act. I cannot shake the conviction that the last vestiges of the legal foundations of Western Judeo-Christian civilization are crumbling to rubble. Justice Kennedy explained his vote by arguing that DOMA was created out of hate for homosexuals,…
The god of gay marriage and yoga is not the transcendent personal Creator of Scripture, but the divine self within, who creates its own reality and the laws to go with it. So, losing the God of Scripture is not merely a religious event. It means we lose the objective source of law.
On June 26, 2013, the highest authority in the land declared the constitutionality of homosexuality as a value to be defended and promoted in modern day America. For the first time, the Supreme Court declared that the federal government may not discriminate against same-sex couples whose marriage is recognized by a state. In the case…
Christian experience derives from hearing the good news of God’s act for us, embodied not in Oneist experience, but in the living Word, Jesus, whose Spirit, works new life in us.
According to news reports, District Attorney Seth Williams will soon reveal the charges he will file against Kermit Gosnell, the 69-year-old abortion center owner who, after failed abortions, killed Karnamay Mongar and seven other infants with scissors. We have rarely seen such a grisly case of blood-letting, yet the mainstream media are not reporting it.…
However, when you join the deepest human motivation—religious faith—to the seductive power of sexual liberation, Sternberg’s picture becomes even more believable and more disturbing. “World purificationism” fuses the formidable power of Eastern mystical enlightenment with modern science to produce a pagan “evolutionary spirituality.” Even the sky is not the limit!
Is yoga a practice that poses no conflict with the Biblical truth—that our purpose, our objective moral standards and our salvation are found outside of ourselves, outside of time and space, in the Person of the great I AM who is distinctly not us?
Jungian spirituality has seduced the masses. Jung’s personal practice of occultism and sexual freedom, presented as a “scientific” method, gave vast authority to the subconscious. People today justify all kinds of pagan spiritualities and sexual fantasies in the name of self-expression and spiritual health. Not the Bible but my subconscious “tells me so.” This corresponds with the Sixties Jungian mantra, “If it moves, fondle it, if it feels good, just do it.” This last phrase became a Nike commercial!
Why is Christianity so unpopular now?... The younger Christian generation faces the enormous danger of allowing the culture to throw out our baby with their “baggage.”
“Salvation is not…escaping some dreadful fate of judgment…at the hands of a wrathful God; rather, it is being saved to ourselves.” She leaves no place for the cross or the atonement.
May 9th 2012 is in many ways the final “sacralization” of the Sixties, where behind the pretext of the Golden Rule, the “revolution” fraudulently covers its unrestrained libido in the white robes of bridal purity.
